Kerala: One more gulf returnee tests Covid-19 positive in Malappuram

One more person who returned from gulf was tested positive for coronavirus infection in Malappuram district on Monday. The infected person is a 40-year-old man hailing from Palenkara near Karulayi in Nilambur in the district.

MALAPPURAM: One more person who returned from gulf was tested positive for coronavirus infection in Malappuram district on Monday. The infected person is a 40-year-old man hailing from Palenkara near Karulayi in Nilambur in the district.
District collector Jafar Malik said that the person who returned from Kuwait on May 9, in a repatriation flight to Kochi, has been admitted to Government Medical College Hospital in Manjeri.

With fresh case of infection on Monday, the total number of pravasis in the district who tested postive has become four. A 34-year-old man from Angadipuram near Perinthalmanna was tested positive on Sunday and he is under treatment at GMCH, Manjeri.
On Saturday, two persons from the district who returned from gulf on Thursday had been tested positive for Covid-19. A 39-year-old man from Chapanangadi near Kottakkal and a 24-year-old man from Naduvattom near Edappal are under treatment at medical college hospitals are Kalamassery and Kozhikode. The man who tested positive on Monday was working as Cashier in a vegetable sales centre at Al Jabil in Kuwait. He was taking treatment for diabetes for last three years. He suffered a stroke on April 15 and he was under treatment in Farwania hospital. In view of the threat of Covid-19 spread in Kuwait he returned to Kerala in IX396 Air India Express flight, on May 9. After medical screening at airport he was shifted to Manjeri Medical College on Sunday morning.
So far a total of 24 positive cases have been reported in the district, including infection reported in four gulf returnees. Among these, 21 have recovered from infection, including an 85-year-old man who died due to age-related ailments. A four-month-old-baby from Manjeri who tested positive died on April 24, at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.
